Instituto Português de Fotografia

IPF

The Portuguese Institute of Photography (Instituto Português de Fotografia - IPF) is the first and oldest photography school in Portugal. Established in Lisbon over 50 years ago but since 2000, it has embraced the heart of the city of Porto, thus highlighting even more our responsibility within the panorama of photography in Portugal.

Akin to teaching is the commitment to cultural offer around photography and image, its artists, thinkers, aficionados of the medium and the general public.

At IPF, we have always looked at cultural activity not only as principle, but always with a huge sense of gratitude for those who, together with us, want to bring photography to wider audiences.

Over the last few years, the cultural program included different formats, varied themes and multiple guests, while always being public and free. Recently, we have been able to embrace new tools, giving voice to our school community and democratising the visibility of our students and young graduates with the project “My photography”. We gave sound to the “Conversations with” our educators. We virtually exhibited the works of final year students of the Professional Photography Course.

Continuing a series of talks started in 2005, we are now presenting a new edition of Encontros do Olhar on the theme of Fragility and Transience (Fragilidade e Transitoriedade), supported by the Porto City Hall cultural grant.

This is an ambitious cultural programme will bring to Porto several renowned national and international photographers and artists, which are here presented.

Accept our invitaion to attend the sessions.
We are waiting for you.
